Poem: Savoring The Moment

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Savoring The Moment" is a poem I wrote as I remember our visit to Longhorn Steakhouse before my oral surgery to get teeth extracted & cut out.

My last good steak for awhile. It was great company and a lot of good memories to cherish.

Absolutely delicious, all the way around.

Savoring The Moment

Her mouth waters as she remembers

the days leading up to her oral surgery,

when her boyfriend treats her to their favorite restaurant.

His loving embrace

reminds her she’s the apple of his eye,

as he stops to purchase a pair of pantyhose,

to remedy the crisis

of a runner going down her leg,

ruining her pretty outfit.

An old school gentleman in every way,

complete with mannerisms of opening doors

making her feel loved,

not bulking about the price

when she orders her favored 20-ounce Outlaw Ribeye.

Just taking time to savor

the blissful company of one another,

with polite conversation and a glint in their eyes,

just like their first date

when they fell in love years ago.

Longhorn Steak House

If you've never visited a Longhorn Steakhouse, I encourage you to do so.

The food is absolutely delicious. My favorite is the 20 ounce Outlaw Ribye, but they have quite a selection to choose from on the menu.

The babecue ribs fall right off the bone and the steaks are thick and juicy. Not to mention tender.

It's not just a steakhouse. There are other entrees available on the menu like chicken, salmon, shrimp, pork chops and other select choices.

You won't be disappointed with the service. Each meal comes with homemade bread loaves brought to your table fresh from the oven.

As you can probably guess by now, my sweet man took me out for dinner before my oral surgery.

He knows how much I love my steak and it's going to be awhile before I get to eat one again.

After having an impacted wisdom tooth cut out and extracting another Wisdom tooth and one other, they tell me it's going to take a few months to completely heal.

I was not disappointed. I savored each delightful minute of his company along with a fantastic meal.

I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.
