Poem: Restless Sleep

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Restless Sleep" is a poem about not being able to sleep.

His thoughts race, he tosses and turns.

He flips on the light hoping he can chat with someone on his cell phone but no one else is awake.

He turns down the heat, grabs a soft pillow and tosses a blanket off then waits for Mr. Sandman.

"Mr. Sandman" by SYML

Restless Sleep

In the stillness of night
his thoughts race
keeping him wide awake,
his body tired, looking for sleep,
tossing and turning to no avail.

Hours of torment with no sheep to count,
his restless soul resigns,
turning on the light
grabbing his mobile phone to chat
but no one else is awake.

He turns the heat down two degrees
takes a blanket off his bed,
grabs a softer pillow
turning down the light,
hoping for Mr. Sandman.

My eyelids are heavy, but my thoughts are heavier.
