Poem: Pieces of My Heart

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

When one begins a relationship a certain magic lets you enjoy each moment. Soon the pieces of your heart remember the broken promises of the past and make you wonder if you can fully trust anyone again. You wish your heart would mend so you could truly love once more.

Pieces of My Heart

Pieces of my heart
long to feel his touch,
long to see his smile,
long for that special magic
like the moments
we first met.

Pieces of my heart,
hide beneath the surface
from shattered dreams
and broken promises,
waiting to be unlocked
for the one
I can trust.

Pieces of my heart
too afraid to take another chance,
listen to his spoken words, wanting to believe there is truth within each one.

Pieces of my heart
feel fortunate to have him
standing with me,
hoping one day
my broken heart
will mend.

Peggy,

I'd like to think that every broken heart gets to heal someday.

Have a great day.

Misbah,

This sounds very interesting.

Thank you so much for taking a moment of your time to share this with me.

I will look at it when I have a few extra moments.

Take care.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on April 22, 2021:

Giving one's love to another always presents a risk-reward situation. Hopefully, those who experience broken hearts will one day also experience healing.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on April 22, 2021:

Brenda, Urdu has a fantastic work of literature. This work of literature holds vast vocabulary. It reflects the culture and history of the region.

It holds all genres of prose, from fiction to non-fiction. An Urdu learner can get to read:

Anecdotes (Dastan) – the traditional tales famous about a place, person or an event

Afsana (Short story) – the best-known genre of Urdu fiction

Safarnama (Travel story)

Novels

Khud navisht (autobiography)

Account Narratives

Misbah,

Thank you.

I'm always happy when I learn new information.

I so enjoy my Hubbers across the world.

Urdu language is one I honestly know nothing about.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on April 22, 2021:

Yes Brenda, it’s a quote from Urdu language, I translated it into English.

You too have a great day

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on April 22, 2021:

Misbah,

That's a new one for me...

One who is closet to the heart knows where to attack.??

Thanks for your thoughts.

Have a great day.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on April 21, 2021:

What a touchy poem, Brenda

As they say, the one who is closer to heart knows where to attack

I wish, may in love there would be no culprits

You have written it beautifully

Blessings

Dana,

You are right, without it life has no real meaning.

So glad you stopped by and could relate to this one.

Love is beautiful.

Dana Tate from LOS ANGELES on July 28, 2019:

Nice poem. I can certainly relate. Love is beautiful. When it goes wrong or, tainted by mistrust it can be painful. However without it life has no real meaning. Thus, we pick up the pieces and try again, in hope.
