Poem: Path To True Love

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

The path to true love is a poem about two people from different worlds falling in love. Their hearts long for the same desire, but they are both stubborn not willing to budge an inch. After many attempts they find a pathway to true love.

"Finding Hope - Paths (Lyrics)

Path To True Love

Fields of grass lie between them,

as he sits in his castle

surrounded by peacefulness

while she is stranded in the noisy village

with the natives.

The atmosphere is different

but their hearts still beat the same,

longing for identical desires.

Trapped within their mindsets,

stubborn to the core,

unwilling to budge an inch,

losing touch with their dreams.

Trying to tap the barrel,

knocking down the walls,

existing in a time warp

hoping to gain entry to the other side.

Touching fingertips between a maze,

lost inside a storm,

a hidden gateway opens,

unveiling a path to true love.

Manatita44,

Sometimes not being alike can have it's advantages.

Love will blossom if it is supposed to...no matter what side of the tracks one is from.

Pamela,

I think many people can be stubborn holding onto views they grew up with, but true love can find a way.

Have a good day.

Some aspects of 'bruising' in this love. A clash of different ideas!

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on January 17, 2021:

This was such a sweet poem, Brenda. I think many people fall in love from different backgrounds, and they can be stubborn. If the love is true they tend to work things out. At least that is my view.

Have a very good week, Brenda.

Peggy,

Yes, that is the true term of tapping.

In my poem I use it to represent the struggle.

Thank you.

Have a great day.

Actually, the tapping of barrels occurs in the beer industry. This information is for Bill Holland in response to his comment. Thanks for another one of your poems that makes us think.

"Trying to tap the barrel,"...that's a new line for me. Never heard it before, and I love it. This speaks to so many couples, the distance that must be traveled in order for love to take root and grow. Nice work, my friend.
