Poem-Paint your Sky Blue-Response to Brenda’s Word Prompt-Week 25

I love poetry. I am a voracious reader and am passionate about writing. I have recently started my foray into poetry.

Once you have tasted the taste of sky, you will forever look up.

Word Prompt help creativity- Week 25

Brenda our dear friend and an excellent poet herself, encourages us with word prompts every week and we have to come up with something creative using this word prompt. Last week the word prompt was ‘Blue’. Despite my best effort, I could not submit my response on schedule. I almost gave up as my muse went blank, and then as if by providence, an idea struck and I was able to awaken my muse to come up with something creative. So here is my poem on the word prompt ‘blue’ and I hope Brenda and my friends like it.

We all know that the color blue is associated with calmness, serenity and peacefulness. The darker shades of blue are associated with honesty, integrity, competence, thoughtfulness, intelligence, trustworthiness and self-control.

I am an avid nature lover and the sight of the clear blue sky and the waters of the blue sea always induce a sense of peace and serenity in me. I can spend hours just gazing at the blue sky on a bright day and wondering what mysteries the universe holds.

The sky is an infinite movie to me. I never get tired of looking at what’s happening up there

— K. D. Lang

About the Poem

We have often heard the phrase ‘Paint the town red’ meaning excitement, party wildly, celebrate. Red is the vibrant color associated with vitality and passion. Often when people are in a celebratory mood, they like to go out and party with friends and have fun which is when this phrase is used. Here I have used the same metaphor in my Poem with the color blue. In the poem our mind is compared to the sky. Thoughts of uncertainty, despair are like clouds which mar the clear blue sky. When these clouds move away, we can see the clear blue sky again. The sight of the clear blue sky induces a sense of calmness, serenity. Likewise, when we clear our minds of negative thoughts, we feel more relaxed and calmer

Only from the heart can you touch the sky.

— Rumi

Your Mind is Like the Sky

Your Mind is Like the Sky

You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather

— Pema Chodron

Poem-Paint your Sky Blue-Response to Brenda’s Word Prompt-Week 25

Your mind is like a sky

Paint your sky blue

It is the color of hope

Let not the clouds of despair

Ruin your beautiful sky

The clouds are not here to stay

They will soon float away

Your beautiful blue sky is

Always there for you.

A clear blue sky

Puts the heart at ease

Thank god for this day

For this clear blue sky.

Our mind is a limitless sky and we can only be an albatross flying in the vast expanse to occasionally discover the joys of sublimity

— Avijeet Das

Paint your sky blue

Allow peace and joy in

Let the mind be calm and serene

And chase the untoward thoughts away.

Paint your sky blue

Blue represents kindness

Blue represents inner peace

Gift yourself calmness

Gift yourself warmness

Make the sky yours

By painting it with blue

Let love light your whole sky

Let your soul and spirit fly

When in doubt see the blue sky

You will see truth, you will see life

You will see the face of god shine high.

Thanks Chitrangada for your kind words. I read your poem in response to last week's word prompt later, it's beautiful. But I could not find it in my feed to comment. I wish Hubpageswould make commenting easier. Have a nice day, stay blessed.

Thanks Brenda, I am so glad you liked my response. I appreciate your kind comments. All our Hubber frienda' responses were so good, I enjoyed reading them all. But it took my muse a little time to come up with something creative. I like that quote too. Just watching the clouds moving can be so much fun. Looking at the clear blue sky chases our blues away and makes the soul feel good. Take care, stay blessed.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on August 18, 2021:

Vidya

You tell us how the clear blue sky and the waters of the blue sea always induce a sense of peace and serenity inside you.

I've got to agree with this one. It makes a sense of peace come over me too.

I relate to this quote:

The sky is an infinite movie to me. I never get tired of looking at what’s happening up there

— K. D. Lang

I can look at the sky all day long. It's like I can see so much there.

In your poem, "Poem-Paint your Sky Blue-Response to Brenda’s Word Prompt-Week 25" you tell us those bad moments in life are not here to stay.

Whenever we feel like our sky is gray, we need to keep looking...for it will change.

The clear blue sky will come out again & our life will get better.

God is with us & will comfort us. Don't lose hope...just look to the sky.

This is a wonderful poem with a great message.

Your quotes are all touching & true.

I love to look up at the sky, even if I'm driving.

It has a way of embrace me, that makes my soul feel good.

Great writing!

I will post a link in the word prompt article.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on August 18, 2021:
