Poem: One Day He Will Realize

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

One day he will realize is a poem about a man who doesn't realize what's in front of him. There is more to life but he believes those temptations in the world will make him feel good. When he finally realizes it will be too late. There will be no one standing beside him when it counts.

One Day He Will Realize

Sharing love with one who cares is the most satisfying moments one's heart can touch,

but he is lost with no understanding of this feeling.

The world's temptations
make him feel good
for the moment,
but he will be standing alone
when it counts.

One day his eyes will open
seeing there is more to life,
realizing it's too late.

What makes resisting temptation difficult for many people is they don't want to discourage it completely.

Peggy,

So true.

Some people follow the hardest roads.

Have a very good day.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on May 10, 2021:

Some people have to learn the hard way that they had a good life and squandered it foolishly.

Vidya,

No problem.

Falling into temptations do come easily for some.

Glad you liked the quote.

Take care.

Vidya,

Thank you.

Indeed. Sometimes things are not what they seem to be.

Hiding the truth or lying is never a good thing.

Enjoy today.

Sorry Brenda the earlier comment was for Nithya.

I loved your poem Brenda. Some people never realize the value of true love. They fall prey to temptations easily. I loved the quote,' Temptation leans on the door bell' , so true. Thanks for this beautiful poem.

VIDYA D SAGAR on May 09, 2021:

A brilliant poem Nithya. It forces us to think on the word proof. Sometimes things may not be what they seem to be and when people hide the truth or tell half truths, the proof may not be sufficient. Good work.

Donna,

You are so right!

It is not any greener.

Thank you for reading.

So true, Brenda! They don't realize what they have until it's gone and that's when they actually get a look over the fence and find the grass isn't greener after all!

Excellent poem!

Kari,

I am happy you can relate to my poems but it makes me sad.

If you can really relate then you too are having a life that is a struggle around each corner.

Some days it is hard to wake up greeting the world but we do it anyhow.

As for the man...i get that. I feel sorry for him too...but yet i know he deserves it at the same time.

Have a pleasant day!

Kari Poulsen from Ohio on December 17, 2019:

Brenda, I relate so much to your poems. You could be writing my story. I feel sorry sorry for the man who will end up alone, but not real sorry because he brought it on himself.

Oh Clive...

You are so funny. That made me smile.

I doubt if a little bump would help...maybe a jolt of lightening...lol.

Thanks for reading.

Jason,

I love your quotes...they are so true.

Yes, sometimes we don't know what we have until it's gone.

I know this is a sad one, but at least it's written well.

Thanks for reading.

Clive Williams from Jamaica on December 11, 2019:

Sounds like he needs a baton over the head....just a little bump to let him realize love.

Jason Nicolosi from AZ on December 11, 2019:

Well written sad poem. It so true when they say “The grass isn't always greener on the other side." And also "You don't know what you have until it's gone." Somtime we don't realize whats right infront of us until its too late.
