Poem: No Longer Perfect

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"No Longer Perfect" is about him promising to stand by her side battling her health problem together, but he thinks only of himself.

He feels trapped and waits for the moment he can depart.

She's no longer perfect with her unsteady gait. He wants to trade her in for something new.

"No Longer Perfect"

He professes his love,
promises to stand by her side
battling this storm together,
taking her hand in his,
speaking tender words to her heart.

He cries tears for himself,
feeling trapped,
his words untrustworthy,
waiting for her recovery
so he can safely depart.

No longer perfect
with her unsteady gait,
he cannot wait to trade her in
before she totally breaks.
