Poem: No Longer Innocent

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

No longer innocent is a poem about a woman realizing she does too much for her man treating him like a helpless child. When he shatters her heart into pieces she learns to be his woman, his lover, and not his mother. Now she lives where the grass is always greener enjoying his lustful affection.

No Longer Innocent

She’s no longer the sweet, innocent gal
waiting with a pure heart,
willing to do everything
to make sure his needs are met,
that part of her died
when she felt a teardrop fall inside her heart.

Shattering her into pieces
like humpty dumpty,
her feelings no longer the same,
the desire to nurture him
like he is a child is gone.

She lives on the wild side
where the grass is greener,
fulfilling moments
with lustful affection,
basking in the warmth
of his hot, passionate love.

Happiness doesn't come as a result of getting sonething we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
