Poem: No Greater Love

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

No greater love is a poem about the moment the greatest love was displayed. The time when Jesus was crucified. He must have felt betrayed & hurt by everyone, including his friends. I can only imagine the love, strength and courage he had, because i cannot forgive so easily.

No Greater Love

No greater love displayed
than when Jesus was crucified,
the betrayal he must have felt
exchanging his life for ours.

The hurt he must have endured
being denied by his fellow friends,
the ones who listened, following him faithfully,
only to turn against him.

Dying on a man made, rugged cross
Looking down on a crowd of hateful, ungrateful people
asking his father to forgive them.

I can only imagine
what love, courage, and strength
it took Jesus,
for insensitive, uncaring people
cause my emotions to be unsympathetic.

My time to valuable to waste
anger fueled emotions I dismiss,
my stone cold heart
holds no instant forgiveness.
