Poem: No Comfort in Saying Goodbye

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"In the Arms of an Angel" by Sarah Mclachlan

poem-no-comfort-in-saying-goodbye

Her heart aches
as she watches
her loved one
near death’s door.

She doesn't understand
how to say goodbye,
there are no words
to express the heartbreak
and the loneliness
she feels deep down
within every fiber of her bones.

She finds no comfort
understanding there is a higher power
to which all paths of life belong.

Teardrops fall
with memories flashing across her mind,
leaving pictures
for her to cherish,
looking onward
at her loved one
not knowing
the words to speak.

There is always a sense of grief and helplessness when we say goodbye to a loved one and your poem conveys this. I also love the music you chose - very fitting.
