Poem: Mother's Encouragement
I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.
Poem Summary
Mother's Encouragement is a poem about walking pass a bakery. The smell lingering in the air reminds her of baking cookies with her mother when she was a toddler. She couldn't reach the counter, flour was everywhere, but her mother didn't say one discouraging word. She showed a Mother's Love.

Mother's Encouragement
Strolling pass a bakery
on my morning walk,
a smell of chocolate lingers in the air,
reminding me of the first time
mother let me bake chocolate chip cookies.
A wee little tot
barely able to reach the counter,
leaving a pathway of flour on the floor
with my clothes dotted in white
and cookie dough in my hair,
tasting the batter on my fingers.
The kitchen filled with laughter
and brightness from her smile,
showing me love as only a mother can
with not one discouraging word.
When you look into your mother's eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on earth
