Poem: Misunderstandings

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Misunderstandings is a poem about how she wishes she could make him understand her thoughts. Showing him actions speak louder than words, making him realize everything in the wheel of life has a purpose. If love is not embraced it will eventually become wobbly and crash, turning into a nightmare.

"Bon Jovi - Misunderstood"

She wishes her thoughts

could express words

to help him understand

those deep feelings,

she hides beneath every breath.

To everything there is a purpose,

a reason behind each moment,

where actions speak louder than words,

where love is not concealed

but embraced in every facet.

Within that circle

a wheel can become unbalanced,

making it wobbly

as it travels down the path,

crashing along the edges of a stone wall,

creating the image of a nightmare.

"Misunderstanding - by Genesis"

Actions speak louder than words

Thank you.

I am happy to hear the two of you have shared 20 years with many more to come.

I am certain you have experienced misunderstandings.

Family and friends do often fall into this category too, but like you say...we spend slmost 24 hrs a day with one's partner in life.

I am so delighted to have you read my work.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Gabriel Wilson from Madeira, Portugal on November 22, 2020:

I have 20 years under my belt with my childhood sweetheart. We are not always sweethearts and an argument or a disagreement is ok, we do the same with friends and family (have misunderstandings) yet don't live day to day the way we do with a spouse. I don't expect to live with someone 24 hours a day for years and always see eye to eye, but respect and understanding and agreeing to disagree has good standing.

You make an excellent point, and I truly believe that too, if love exists it will work out :)

It is worth the work to salvage a marriage and many are worth it.

Relationships without marriage have problems arise which will determine if their connection moves forward.

If love truly exists it will work out.

Misunderstandings are common because no two people are totally alike.

Thank you.

Enjoy your day.

It is very amazing. Two people from different walks of life are bound to hit a roadblock or two.

So glad you can count your lucky stars.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Every relationship has it's misunderstandings but I do believe if they value their connection it will work out.

Thanks for reading.

Have a wonderful day.

You are right. If it is true love misunderstandings eventually work out.

We all are from different parts of life so our outlook is not going to be the same.

Wobbly and crashing into a stone wall is what it puts me in the mind of when people have differences.

So glad to see you my friend.

Take care.

Thank you.

I am delighted my words express this meaning.

Misunderstandings happen in the best if romances...and yes, we all learn from them.

Take care and have a great day my friend.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on November 22, 2020:

Sometimes the wheels can get off the rails, but salvaging the ride is worth the effort. Marriage takes work, but a good one is definitely worth the time and effort it takes to make it work.

Thankfully we are wired differently. Life would be quite boring if we were alike.

We will always have times of misunderstanding or times when we just don't agree.

It would be nice though if men could reach out with understanding...not grumbling.

Sometimes men take the women for granted assuming they will always be there to do what needs to be done....Wake up Men....women are people too!

Glad you liked the videos too!

I had not heard Genesis for awhile

Take care.

I had not heard that before about article in Reader's Digest.

Thry do say that behind every successful man there is a smart woman.

Thus the term...

Better Half.

All couples have misunderstandings, after all they are 2 different people from 2 different paths of life.

Take care.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on November 22, 2020:

Thank you.

Relationships can be hard but understanding one another, having good communication is sometimes useless if we don't actually take the time to open up with one another.

Don't keep things bottled up because your imagination can run wild by the time you do talk.

Patience and love are great virtues.

Take it easy.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on November 22, 2020:

Lol! That would be something if men could actually read our minds.

They sometimes think they know by our facial expressions, but that's usually only half of it.

Take care.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on November 22, 2020:

It is amazing to me that any relationship between two humans actually lasts. I try to remember that in my marriage, and remember how lucky I am that we beat the odds. Thanks for the reminder.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on November 22, 2020:

This is a very good poem and I think misunderstandings are common. I do think love can overcome these problems.

Nithya Venkat from Dubai on November 22, 2020:

If love is not embraced it can become wobbly as you say in your well-expressed poem. Misunderstandings can be resolved when there is true love.

manatita44 from london on November 22, 2020:

Yea, a big one misunderstandings. Necessary, as we all colour life so differently. Also, we are meant to drift sometimes. We come together to learn lessons and then go our own separate ways. Just how the journey works out for some ... how the cards are dealt.

You express this in romance well. Peace.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on November 22, 2020:

Unfortunately, men's and women's minds are wired differently. there will always be some degree of misunderstanding from time to time. Nicely written and described Brenda. I like the songs too.

Rosina S Khan on November 22, 2020:

I once read in Reader's Digest that understanding a woman's mind is intelligence. Whatever may be the case, I hope the misunderstanding between the couple would be resolved and they can embrace love and life again. Thank you for sharing, Brenda.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on November 22, 2020:

Nice composition. Mutual Understanding is important in a relationship, and it requires lot of perseverance, from both the partners.

Thank you for sharing.

Liz Westwood from UK on November 21, 2020:

This poem captures the essence of a relationship problem. I once heard of an older man advising a younger man who was about to get married that no matter how hard he tried he could never understand how the mind of a woman worked. If only men could read our minds!
