Poem: Man-Made Loner

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Man-made Loner" is a poem about how other people affect one's life by the simple way they treat them.

Listening and believing in rumors is bad at anytime, but acting on those words can hurt others.

One's actions can cause a person to become a man-made loner.

Man-made Loner

The tides of life
cast a path of a loner,
not by choice.

Open doors
silently slam shut,
like she’s a black widow
with poison in her veins.

Blacklisted,
like a woman
hunting her next victim.

A cobweb of lies
drift in and out of the light,
holding her in the darkness
where shadows become alive.

How You Treat Others Makes A Difference

In my word prompt series, I thanked each and everyone of you for being there for me.

Here in this small town, things are not as nice.

It amazes me at the number of people who suddenly treat me different.

Maybe a few just don’t know what to say, and I understand.

However, there are others who treat me like I’m the ultimate enemy.

Suddenly I’m a single woman on the prowl waiting to steal the hearts of men.

Many of my so called friends have told their boyfriend’s and husbands to no longer talk with me.

Trust and friendship has flown out the window.

Truth vs Rumors

Then there are the others. The ones who know Ron’s two sons and claim I have taken away their rightful heir.

Little do they know, his boys were not an active part of his life.

They didn't see him on Father's Day, his Birthday or Thanksgiving.

Then for his very last Christmas, we decorated our home without putting up the Christmas tree, since it was in the garage and we couldn't carry it inside.

He texted the boys and asked for help, but it never happened.

Nor did they worry about spending time with their dad on Christmas day.

We saw one for a half an hour and the other one didn't show at all.

This isn't the kind of response I would have expected. Their dad was dying. They knew he didn't have much time left.

But being from a small town, people believe what they will, rather it is true or not.

Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated

My hope is that others learn to appreciate what they have in life before it's too late.

No material things matter.

It's the time you spend with your loved ones that counts.

Make the most of each second and toss regrets out the window.

I'm happy I was here with Ron.

I will not apologize or regret one moment as my life continues with his love pouring down upon me.

I hope people learn to treat others as they want to be treated themselves.
