Poem: Man Without Empathy

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Man Without Empathy" is a poem of a middle aged man who is always looking for his next lover.

He hides his true identity behind a web of lies.

He chases boyish dreams and love bombs each victim on his list.

He taunts them with lies in a guessing game to devalue the current one hoping she leaves.

"Man Without Empathy"

It’s sad when a middle aged man
thinks only of his next conquest,
to satisfy those boyish urges
not wanting to grow up,
not wanting to feel
the compassionate love
of a life long companion
by his side.

Sharing only crumbs of himself
to each one he devours,
hiding his true identity
behind layers of lies.

Chasing dreams of a boy,
playing the role of a man
acting out each scene,
preparing the perfect love bomb
for his next victim.

His words spun in a web of lies,
spewing his cocky, smug attitude
with a guessing game of clues,
callously crushing the last heart
he ignited in his fire ring.

Every woman deserves to have a partner who is proudly willing to say to the whole world:

'Yeah, she is my one and only.

"She is beautiful and she is mine."
