Poem: Love's Battle

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"I Don't Want To Lose You" by Jamestown Story

poem-loves-battle

A sadness like you are in a bottomless pit,
a happiness like you have found the end of the rainbow,
a heart that is torn
between the two.

The mind fights for logic,
the heart fights for love,
the two in a constant battle
like a storm brewing in an ocean.

There is no perfect outcome
when lies have met the truth,
until two hearts are willing
to make a sacrifice
for love.

The image of the heart and mind fighting is effective. So is the conclusion of making a sacrifice. Good work.

Rosina,

So glad you like this one!

Yes...logic and love. So sad our minds just don't agree with our hearts.

Have a great day.

Sorry you feel this way. It is an awful feeling to be high on happiness one minute and sad with brokenness the next.

I believe I am trapped within this...i am not sure there is a way out.

Your mind....it can play alot of tricks.

Wish you the best.

Take care.

Thanks for reading.

Charlie,

Thank you.

Brenda, one often finds themselves in this dilemma between logic and love. And as your poem suggests, as lies are confronted by the truth, the only thing left for two real hearts to do is to compromise from either side for love. A beautiful outlook on life overall, and often it is the right thing to do. Great poem indeed, Brenda!

Shalini Jadhvani from India on December 17, 2019:

It's truly an amazing poem Brenda. Indeed, there is a constant battle between emotions and logic, and we make inferences of a given situation through the mightier one at that point of time. A great read. Best wishes.

Crezyl from Philippines on December 17, 2019:

I feel like I'm in his kind of situation Brenda, mind fights for logic, heart fights for love, when these two clash, I just lay down on my bed and think of unthinkable things, things that I cannot understand. Great poem Brenda ❤

Charlie Halliday from Scotland on December 17, 2019:

So true Brenda.
