Poem: Love Scars

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Love scars is a poem about the pain she feels from the hurt etched into her heart. She trusted him with her every breathe only to be deceived by his lies. She is tormented forever by his love playing in her mind.

"Love Scars"

She feels the pain
of a love deeply
carved into the fibers of her heart,
etched forever,
from the one
who broke her soul.

Trusting his every breathe,
only to be suffocated
with his lies,
torment forever,
playing in her mind.

I suppose I love my scars because they have stayed with me longer than most people have.

Brenda, I bet we all have scars, I know I do, but they are healed. That's not to say that they remain in the psyche a lifetime. I loved your poem.

Mitara N from South Africa on March 26, 2020:

Powerful,

For someone to come into another's life, being reckless with the heart, never deserved such a love like that in the first place,

sounds like she was worth so much more than she gives herself credit for...

Time heals, but is never forgotten

VIDYA D SAGAR on March 26, 2020:

A very touching poem, Brenda. We can feel the pain of her broken heart and the scars that never really heal.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on March 26, 2020:

Jason,

You are correct.

I think sometimes they never heal. It just becomes part of our new life with more walls of protection built.

Thanks and stay safe.

Keep writing.

Loves scars cut the deepest and usually take a long time to heal. Although sometimes they never heal. Beautifully written Brenda.

Lorna Lamon on March 26, 2020:

Scars that never really heal and as your poem says "carved into the fibers of her heart". Beautiful yet tragic. Loved it Brenda.

Leaves scars all right. Very deep scars. I like Roberta Flack. She was a friend of the Centre and played for us at our annual pilgrimages in New York.
