Poem: Life Moves On

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Life Moves On

She hates the sinking feeling
in the pit of her stomach
reminding her she can't go backwards
for nothing is the same.

Forcing her hand to live by a different set of rules
with the future in sight,
hoping to keep a few familiar faces
along the way.

She misses her old life,
the one she had grown accustomed to,
but she embraces happiness
in a place
where she feels at home.

Misbah,

Thank you.

Time does not stop. Life moves on...I'm not certain about going with the flow, but moving forward is inevitable.

Something we all must do.

Take care.

Vidya,

Thank you so much.

That's the one thing we cannot change...Life moves on.

Take care.

This is a beautiful poem, Brenda. It reminds us that the clock is ticking. It is not easy to let go, but at times it is the only path to inner peace. A delightful read. Life moves on whether you like it or not. So true. It's good o go with the flow. Thanks for sharing.

Blessings and Love

Perhaps she can hold onto a trinket of yesterday and put it in a locket to remind herself where she has been, who help her along the way and looking through that frosted windows of yesterday with the courage to move forth with happy memories not too far away that waits for her smile to welcome them...

Beautiful poem, I love it!

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on December 27, 2019:

True life goes on. We can focus on the glad to help it outweigh the sad. Good thoughts.

A timeless poem Brenda reminding us that time does move on and even though it is not easy to let go, sometimes it is the only way to inner peace. Loved it.

Crezyl,

Your comment leaves me a bit confused.

I am happy you think it is a good poem.

This has no reflection on your life...written from my own heart.

Crezyl from Philippines on December 26, 2019:

I go beyond normal Brenda, I know I wasn't wrong, I was just pacing different path, and I am happy with it. Good poem ❤
