Poem: Letting the Walls Down

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"Ready To Take A Chance Again" by Barry Manilow

poem-letting-the-walls-down

She lives her life hidden away
like a snail under a rock,
hoping to shelter herself
in her own little dream world.

Not wanting to partake
in a world full of fake people
that bring heartache and pain,
leaving her lost in despair.

He crosses her path
speaking words of love
making her want to take a chance,
he fascinates her soul
making her want to feel alive,
even if she must fall down.

She is no longer playing it safe,
the walls around her heart
are crumbling,
she is putting her love on the line
hoping he finds her this time.

Crezyl,

I feel you are right!

When you are falling in love it seems impossible to protect one's heart.

Thank you for reading.

I am protecting my heart too. But when my heart is in love, I can't control it no matter how much I try. This is a lovely poem!

Brenda,

Beautiful poem, truth, love is a leap of faith in all instances and this poem encourages hope in the leap. I also love Lady Antebellum, thanks for sharing.
