Poem: Keeping Faith

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Keeping faith is a poem that describes how the rain doesn't spoil her day. Instead it makes her feel more alive with each drop. She stands boldly, lingering to see the hands of God paint a rainbow in the sky taking the torrent storms away.

BJ Thomas - Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head (lyrics)

"Keeping Faith"

The rain does not

dampen her mood,

for each drop touching her head

makes her feels more alive.

Like lightening splitting a tree,

she stands boldly,

waiting to inhale

each second.

Lingering with anticipation,

to watch the hands of God

paint a band of color across the sky,

keeping the torrent storms at bay.

I love the idea of the rain's cleansing drops and the hope of better things to come in the peace of a rainbow, after the storm. Inspirational and beautifully written Brenda.

Chitrangada,

Thank you so much for stopping by for a read.

The quiet rain is great. I don't mind the raindrops hitting my head...I always walk while watching others dash in a mad rush.

I know I will not melt.

Have a wonderful day!

This is a lovely poem, Brenda. Raindrops falling on your head make you more alive and you wait for God to put in a colorful rainbow across the sky. I loved these lines very much. So joyful of you!

Like John wrote, as long as the storms are not too violent, they are enjoyable. Now I have "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" floating around in my mind. Thanks!

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on October 03, 2020:

Brenda, I love rain and storms (as long as they aren’t too violent.) this is an inspiring poem and your song choices are great.
