Impressions

The truth is untruths are true in the truth of a situation,

The eyes see what they want to see,

Take a snapshot carelessly,

Which becomes a fragment of imagination.

The truth dissolves through multiple filters,

What is supposedly the purest solution,

Undergoes reactions and preconceived notions,

Forming accidental conclusions.

Judge an impression, you can make blame,

But can we say we haven't done the same,

Change when the pressure is heavy,

Or change to be ready and steady.

Conclusion are contradictions. Nothing is stagnant, everything changes except the truth.

There's a lot of truth in your verse Li-Jen. I love how you wrap it up in the last two lines. Great rhyming, it look's easy, but it's hard to do.

Very true that we can see what we want to see , to frame what suits our current goal. Great poem .

Our President would love this...it is all fake news according to his way of seeing things....I jest a bit, but I love this poem and its central meaning. Well done!

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on January 04, 2020:

Much food for thought here Li-Jen. Yes, sometimes we tend to change the truth or compromise our convictions to suit a certain situation. Also, what appears to be true on the surface isn't always what you think when you investigate further. Nice job.
