Poem: I Missed the Perfect Mile

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

I missed the perfect mile is a poem about how we travel down a lot of pathways in life. Sometimed we pass up a road we later wish we would have chosen but usually it's too late to find our way back.

I Missed the Perfect Mile

I walked a thousand miles,
encountered detours
along the rough trail,
leading me into the pits
of a continuous dead end.

I remember
as I walked along,
stumbling upon a perfect mile
somewhere upon a narrow road.

It has been so long ago,
my mind can not recall
the path to take
to find it once again,
undoubtedly, I've lost my way,
it's gone forever.

Sometimes we stumble upon the perfect mile but forget the path

That is one good way to see it.

After along series of trying to find something you've been dreaming about, you finally find it but don't notice it. After a while, you realize you had it but you can't go back...

.. That's how I interpreted this. And I like it.
