Poem: I Don't Believe You Anymore

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

I don't believe you anymore is a poem about someone who says he loves you after he discarded your love. Your feelings are no longer strong, no matter the words he speaks. You feel numb inside.

"Don't Believe You Anymore " by Colin Hay

I Don't Believe You Anymore

His sweet words and tender kisses

are no longer real,

his hateful demeanor

has lifted the wool from her eyes.

Like a piece of trash

he discarded her

with no feeling in his heart,

only to utter the words

"I love you"

since he left.

Her feelings are numb,

crushed by the thought
of his embrace,

smothered by flames
burning inside,

a once loving heart.

For if he loves her

he is committed

with no desire to play the field.

"Behind Those Eyes" by 3 Doors Down

I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you.
