Poem: I Am In Shock

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

I am in shock is a poem about how one believed American Comedian Bill Cosby could teach children morals. People trusted him to be a family man only to be deceived. His actions inflicted pain upon the world. People feel let down as childhood moments are now shattered while he has no remorse.

I wrote this when American comedian Bill Cosby was accused with allegations of sexual assault. This news shocked so many families.

"I Am In Shock"

I am in shock
by your wholesome family entertainment
thinking you could teach decent morals,
I let them watch.

I feel ashamed
for trusting you
to be a responsible family oriented man,
exposing my family
only to be deceived.

I feel angry
learning you inflicted harm,
not only to a few
but the whole world.

I feel let down
for childhood moments are shattered,
family values are broken,
while your heart feels no remorse.

Thank you.

Yes, we are all weak at times.

Many people feel the shock and horror you expressed. These deeds are indeed shocking.

They always remind me to be more careful as we are human and very vulnerable. This is not an excuse, we have had the same problem here with T.V presenters.

I'm trying to say that we are inherently weak … to speak of the need to be more wakeful … to try our best. Nothing can be taken for granted. Much Love.

Yes, it seems so unbelievable.

From his shows, one would have never thought this was possible from him.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you.

Yes, him without remorse was like a slap in the face.

I remember watching his shows...it just seemed so out of character.

I appreciate you commenting.

It is still difficult for me to believe that he did what he was accused of, but I guess they have proof.

I can feel the sense of betrayal and shock within the lines of this poem Brenda. Like so many others Bill Cosby used his fame and popularity to abuse those who trusted him. The fact he showed no remorse makes his actions even more heinous. Great writing.
