Poem: Hope Springs Eternal

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Hope Springs Eternal is a poem I wrote for the word prompt, "Hope." It tells the story of Spring coming to life with Easter Lillies blooming reminding us of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. We feel the darkness coming to an end as God discards our hardships. There are also 4 acrostic poems on hope.

Hope Springs Eternal

The gloomy days of winter lag behind

Spring jumps to center stage,

as march winds prevail,

leaving us in a sense of awe

waiting for warmer days,

Easter around the corner.

The white-robed apostles of hope

with trumpet shaped flowers bloom

filling the air with fragrance

symbolizing hope for mankind

reminding us of Jesus’s bold sacrifice.

Our hope springs eternal

with the signs of nature,

as birds joyfully chirp,

fluffy baby squirrels frolic,

and baby feral kitten’s pounce,

reminding us all things have a season.

We feel the darkness

coming to an end,

as God shines a way

for a better tomorrow,

discarding our hardships,

bringing us comfort, love

and joy.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens

— Ecclesiastes 3:1

Acrostic Poem on Hope - #1

Hours of each day

Opportunities come our way

Providing hope

Encouraging a brighter day.

Spring adds new life and new joy to all that is

— Jessica Harrelson

Acrostic Poem on Hope - #2

Heaven above brings forth

Our jubilation

Paving the way for

Eternal life.

The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring

— Bernard Williams

Acrostic Poem on Hope - #3

Hallelujah to God

Offering his son

Paying the ultimate price

Erasing our sin.

The greatest gift of Easter is hope.

— Basil Hume

Acrostic Poem on Hope - #4

Hope is in the air

On Easter Sunday

Promise of an eternal life

Embraces us with his love.

Thank you. Your words of kindness have uplifted my day.

I am delighted that you like these poems so much.

Believe it or not, I would rather have my poems viewed with an honest opinion. So, your harshness is fine.

Beautiful poems Brenda. I loved all of them. The quotes are so uplifting and the videos are nice. Happy Easter.

manatita44 from london on April 02, 2021:

What a wonderful combination, my sweet. You were inspired! Darkness into Light, hope, atonement, renewal and spring ... sacrifice .. they're all here. Not to mention praise and jubilation. Most appropriate month too!

I never know what I would like and sometimes I'm harsh, I know. Yet I love these poems very much! I'm featuring in a poetry circle on Monday and I have prepared a wonderful selection myself. Happy Easter!! (You've done a most marvellous job!)

Note: 'There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.' Guru ji calls this 'God's Hour.' Something he talks about constantly in his writings. It is very profound.
