Poem: Homewrecker

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"4AM" by Melaine Fiona

poem-homewrecker

I waited on these moments…
taking walks after work,
relaxing on our deck enjoying a quiet dinner,
doing absolutely nothing, together or alone,
sharing moments as a family,
feeling the comfort of you being home
protecting us during the night.

The moment it can happen
you pull the rug out from under our feet,
tossing your family away
claiming you are no longer happy,
instantly changing overnight
like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Bolstering claims of not understanding why,
stating you might need help
but you want to live alone,
then shockingly I discover
the truth raising it's ugly head,
learning you had no plans to be alone
there is another.

Heartache overcomes me
our lives now apart,
now you stand there saying
“She is a Homewrecker”,
but I already know.
