Poem: His Loss is My Gain

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

His loss is my gain is about a man grateful for finding an angel another man tossed away. He will hold her until her heart mends. He will cherish the love he took for granted. He knows the other man will want her back but he doesn't worry for he treats her like a lady. She has no reason to leave.

My Loss Is His Gain

It's hard to believe
he broke this angel’s heart,
leaving her here for me.

I will hold her until her tears dry,
helping her pick up the pieces,
waiting for her heart to mend.

I will cherish all the love
he took for granted,
satisfying her every need,
being grateful for his loss.

On lonely nights
he will miss her
reaching out to feel her heavenly love again,
but I won't worry.

His words will fall upon deaf ears
as she realizes I treat her like a lady,
spoiling her until her heart’s content.

Time waits for no man

Neither does a good woman.

Very touching Brenda. We have a proverb in Hindi that translates as "only a goldsmith would know the value of gold". In the same way on a true lover would appreciate and respect love. Thanks for sharing.

A great poem Brenda. Cheers to the man who stood by his true love and uplifted her when the other man had ditched her. He really is a hero. Great work.

He can never get back what he once had. Too late to realize how beautiful it really was. You keep carving away like a turkey on Thanksgiving day. Your words cut through like a knife in butter. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful Thursday.

I like the thought that she found love again after he let her go, and just possibly, he's missing her. Another good one!

Rosina,

Thanks. I guess so.

I had not looked at it quite that way, but you are right.

Enjoy your day.

It is interesting to see how you spoil the lady who was dumped by her man. This poem is different in that the more you help this lady, the more the man incurs losses and suffers and the more you gain. A good piece of poetry!
