Poem : He Needs to Sober Up

Poem : He Needs to Sober Up

I know that you wish you knew

that long after the woo,

the man would become aggressive

and call himself progressive.

He would disrespect you

at every turn

and act like

there is a lesson to learn.

He will dictate that

you have to stay in keeping

with what he is teaching.

Well, I am here to remind you

that you are empowered

in your own thinking.

If there is one thing that you can give

to that man,

it should be the suggestion

to quit drinking.

His breath has been stinking

with the putrid alcohol

and he is only trying to gall,

to speak a lot of drivel,

gibberish and nonsense.

When he does this,

he builds more than just a fence.

He builds a brick wall

through which you can

not communicate at all.

When he sobers up,

then maybe you can

talk about what is up.

Thanks so much for your comments. Alcoholism is sad, very sad, as is drug abuse. These things just destroy lives.

I can't imagine what it takes to live with someone having an addiction. Patience is truly a virtue!

Shannon Henry from Texas on October 04, 2017:

Powerful words. Ive never personally dealt with an alcoholic, but I don't like being drunk or around people who are. I can't imagine living with someone never sober. He definitely needs to sober up. Maybe when she's gone.
