Poem: He Lost His Good Girl

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac

poem-he-lost-his-good-girl

He listens to the loneliness
creaking through the walls,
he feels his heart breaking
as tears silently roll down his cheek,
wondering why he chose to be alone.

He wanted to be carefree
to play those games
he was missing,
but now he is sitting alone
silently yearning for the one he lost,
wishing he had not let her go.

Realizing too late
she never needed him
to be her provider,
she only wanted him
with a passionate desire,
until he broke her trust.

In every room
her face haunts him,
her essence lives forever,
her soft touch lingers
throughout each thought
as he sits alone.

Feeling this emptiness
looking at his house astray,
dishes and laundry piled up
leaves him in more despair,
realizing since he lost his good girl
he must clean up the clutter.

The rude awakening at the end of the poem mirrors real life for people who have grieved enough. This like all your other poems make us see and feel the story you tell.

Brenda, We often don’t appreciate what we have until we lose it. Your poem gives a good example of that. Well done.

So touching Brenda and true as we rarely realise how much we miss that special person in our lives until they have gone. A timeless message. Lovely.

A beautiful poem depicting heartbreak so aptly. Many a times people don't realise the importance of someone until their loss sets in.

A lovely sad poem, Brenda. Serves the man right not realizing his girl was good, passionate and helpful. I loved reading it although it was tragic. Keep your writings flowing as we all keep enjoying going through them.
