Poem: Google Maps

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Google Maps" is a poem about using google maps while taking a vacation.

We've used this on our mobile phone for every trip.

It maps out the directions and calls each one out loud.

If we happen to miss a turn or an exit, it simply reroutes itself. Then it gives us another chance to get it right.

Google Maps

Bags packed,

excitement in the air,

their vacation begins

finding the fastest route.

Tapping fingers on a trusted travel companion,

letting Google maps lead the way

across country roads towards the freeway,

taking them through places they’ve never been.

It detours them around traffic jams,

shouts out Speed traps,

alerting them about accidents on the road,

putting a handheld map to shame.

Never getting bored

traveling the same old path,

it plans a different route for the drive back,

keeping the adventure alive.

If I had a wish it would be this:

that Google Maps could take me,

not to just any place on the planet, but to any place in time.
