Poem: Getting Acquainted

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"Start of Something Good" by Daughtry

"Getting Acquainted"

He doesn’t see the teardrops
hidden in her eyes,
he doesn’t feel the pain
seared deep into her heart,
he doesn’t realize the strength it takes
for her to accept his friendship.

In this awkward moment,
he eases her distress
with cuddles from the fur babies,
putting a twinkle of happiness
back into her life,
as he cooks dinner for two.

She smiles with relief,
thankful for this playful moment,
getting to know one another
the way it should be,
from the beginning.

Lorna,

Thank you for reading this one.

Learning to trust again is a very hard step.

Fur babies have a way of making one smile.

Thanks.

Such a good poem Brenda about learning to trust again and feeling safe enough to let your guard down. Cuddles from the fur babies will do it every time. Another great write - loved it.
