Poem: Forgiveness Verses

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

"Forgiveness Verses" is my response to "Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 46" by Brenda Arledge.

There are three different poems expressing different views on forgiveness.

I hope you enjoy reading them.

"Casting Crowns ~ Broken Together"

Setting Herself Free

Releasing feelings of resentment,
tossing them in the wind,
a weight lifts off her shoulders,
a new day can begin.

The torment of anger
was holding her back,
with her feet stuck like quicksand
sinking up to her neck.

Now she can smile,
move on with life,
no longer letting anger
determine her path.

Path of Forgiveness

Words spoke in anger,
actions in haste,
regrets fill the heart
love gets stuck in the middle.

Forgiveness is easy,
forgetting is hard,
memories flash back,
two people drift apart.

A heart slowly mends
with time his best friend
waiting until
it begins again.

"TobyMac ~ Forgiveness"

No Forgiveness Can Mend

Like a teapot whistling in her head
her thoughts boil over,
listening to a phone call
saying her children are dead.

Rushing home,
finding them not in their beds
with her brother muttering words,
no one understands.

When Dogs follow a blood trail
finding their tiny bodies in a cornfield,
stabbed numerous times with a butcher knife,
authorities toss him in jail.

A tragic end
for all involved
with drugs filtering through his body
that no forgiveness can mend.

"Matthew West ~ Forgiveness"

Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.
