Poem: Forgiveness Brings Hope

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

"Forgiveness Brings Hope" is a poem that shows when we forgive others we find an inner peace.

We don't forget, but we bury the sadness in the far corner of our minds, offering them a chance to soar like an eagle.

It is within this forgiveness that we find a glimmer of hope for ourselves.

Forgiveness Brings Hope

As we learn to forgive one’s mistakes,

the feeling of immense joy

trickles with moments of despair.

Offering others, a clean slate,

while we bury the sadness

in the far corners of our mind.

We hold on lightly,

letting them soar like an eagle

to mend their broken wings,

touching our soul with inner peace

giving ourselves a glimmer of hope.

Bill

Thank you.

You are right about life being short and I don't want to hold grudges inside.

I have to forgive others even though I do not forget.

Have a wonderful day.

Pamela

Thank you.

The Bible does say to forgive others, but it is often hard for us.

I think if we remember this is actually for ourselves...it will come more easily.

To forgive others is a great thing. I love the message of your poem.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on July 26, 2021:

I'm pretty sure I've forgiven everyone. I certainly don't feel like I'm carrying around any bitterness. Life is just too short to carry around burdens like bitterness.

Noble effort, Brenda. vivekananda wants us to be grateful to all we help, as they are giving us an opportunity to make progress. Yoga internalises everything! After all, if you don't exist, then what good is the world? Knowing this, you become the most important. That way, everything else around you also becomes important. Om Shanti! (Peace)

This is a beautiful poem, Brenda. I do think forgiveness is freedom for us, and we do feel that inner peace.

I know the Bible says forgive others to be forgiven also.

Have a wonderful week!

So true, Brenda. The quote is the best definition of forgiveness I've ever met. I'll never forget it. Thanks for sharing a poem that heals our inward soul.

Rosina

Thank you.

I'm glad your little piece of the world is sunny.

We've been very hot with sunshine, but then those dreaded thunderstorms roll in.

It is great to forgive someone, but it doesn't mean to forget.

It also doesn't mean you reach out with an open hand to help them.

I've had a few family members who can take & take...one must eventually stop giving, but we can forgive.

Trust in your heart and find that glimmer of hope so you can feel peace.

Take care gal.

Peggy

Thank you.

I believe it is more for oneself.

Otherwise we just can't find peace.

I'm glad you liked this one.

Take care.

Brenda, this is a lovely poem with an inspiring message and perhaps the right dose for me this morning. There are so many, including a close family member that I need to forgive. I have tried to dwell on the edge of forgiveness for too long but not with much success. Your poem certainly makes it obvious why we should forgive others' mistakes.

To be at peace and achieve a glimmer of hope are reasons why we should forgive- this is indeed a beautiful message for me this sunny morning.

Thank you, Brenda, for your splendid and educative poem.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on July 25, 2021:

I agree that forgiveness is a gift to ourselves. Good one, Brenda!
