Poem: Final Farewell

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Final farewell is about him listening for the calm before the storm. He knows she is dying and wishes to know the exact moment. He doesn't want to miss kissing her one last time before she leaves.

"Final Farewell"

One ear waits to hear
heartbreaking news,
the other listens
for the calmness before the storm.

His heart bleeds inside
knowing the moment is close,
hoping to notice the exact second,
so he can touch her hand,
kissing her lips one last time.

There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.

Ann,

Thank you.

The calm before the storm is usually there if one pays attention to it.

I am glad that we have memories, so we can keep that part in our hearts.

Take care

This is one if the saddest things we do in life.

Take care.

I like the opening verse; a good observation. It's always difficult but we keep those loved ones deep in our hearts, so they live on in our thoughts and our words.

Peggy,

It is so difficult when that time comes, but I think somehow it comforts us to be there.

Have a nice evening.

This poem touches my heart. I was present when my father died decades ago, and also when my mother died. I was holding her hand when she passed.
