Poem: Fake Friends

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"Find Out Who Your Friends Are " by Tracy Lawrence

poem-fake-friends

She is rudely awakened
when she discovers her friends are not genuine,
making her feel better off being alone.

She is hurt
knowing others take her for granted
offering her
no real friendship in return.

Feeling betrayed like Jesus
she can forgive them
but she will not reach out,
for she has no place in her heart
for fake people.

Ruth,

You are so right. One might as well be alone than spending time with someone just pretending to be your friend.

Thank you for stopping by for a read.

Kathryn Collins from UK on March 05, 2020:

Makes sense and being with fake friends is more lonely than being alone.

Rosina,

Thank you for your heartfelt reply.

That is awesome advice.

I am happy...no worries.

I just reminded myself about finding out who true friends really are in one's life.

Sometimes it is hard to discover those you trusted could not be there for you.

That is on them...my happiness comes first. But I will not forget their kind of friendship...I don't need anything yo bring me down.

I hope you have a wonderful Day.

Merry Christmas !

Charlie,

That is so true.

I had lots of friends years ago when I would hang out at the bars.. but i found out who my true friends really were.

There were lots of fake ones.

But even now you must be cautious, there are fake friends out here too.

I am so happy for you.

I am glad you can experience the true meaning of friendship.

Merry Christmas!

Take care and don't give up.

Crezyl,

Thank you.

I tend to not trust alot of people...i learned that years ago.

But it hurts when you let someone in your life only to find out he wasnt really a friend.

Not there when you really needed someone.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Take care.

Ruby,

Thank you.

Yes, I usually write from the heart.

It seems to guide me.

Merry Christmas!

Kari,

It is hard to overcome. But there are always better friends if you care to have them.

Me, personally...sometimes it is not worth trusting others.

Thanks for reading.

Merry Christmas!

I, too, have had fake friends, friends who just used me. It took forever for the hurt to end, but it has. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Ruby Jean Richert from Southern Illinois on December 24, 2019:

" Fake Friends " I think we've all had them sometime in our life. I can remember one in particular. It took a long time for the hurt to subside. You write from your heart. I like that.....

Crezyl Joy Villa Sabrido from Philippines on December 24, 2019:

I have a lot of friends but few were my bestfriends, I am cautious in selecting Brenda because it's so hard to be betrayed by someone you really trust. Thank you for sharing it. Good poem♥

Charlie Halliday from Scotland on December 24, 2019:

So true Brenda. In the life I led I made quite a few fake friends and I was just the same as them a user and abuser of friendship.

Glad I woke up and can now appreciate the meaning of true friendship.

Who cheated out on the woman in the poem? Aren't you happy? Happiness is a choice. Right at this moment, choose to be happy and breathe. Feel the same the next moment and the next...Forget everything. Let go. And then magically good stuff will enter your life to make you smile. Yes, you will have reason to smile.
