Poem: Facing Fear

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

This poem was inspired when I heard the coronavirus is alive in my little town.

I have faced many health battles in my life. I am a survivor. I will not give up now.

I hope none of you do either.

Trust in God. He will bring us through this.

"Facing Fear"

On a normal day
she is strong,
pushing away the barricades
letting fear stand behind her
in the shadows.

But today is not typical
with panic creeping in her mind,
hearing stories of coronavirus
plaguing her little town.

She finds courage
from those sharing in her battle
to stare fear in the face again,
realizing she fights too hard every day
to lose this struggle now.

Shalini,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful words.

Yes, One just have to keep reminding himself and it makes the fear subside.

Stay safe and keep writing.

An awesome write Brenda. And it's absolutely true. We just need to remind ourselves about how strong we are to eradicate the imaginary fear that is created in our minds by external forces. Yes, fear is reel but makes things appear so real. But when we remind ourselves of our real self, that of a strong, beautiful and positive being, that's when we overcome the reel and are able to see the beauty outside. Indeed, there is so much truth in your poem. Kudos. Best wishes.

True. People who are usually strong are threatened by fear of the coronavirus. It fights us physically and mentally. We do need courage.

Jason,

Thank you so much for your compliment.

I agree we will defeat this one!

manatita44 from london on March 26, 2020:

You explain it well in poetry. This is a common enemy of man in good times, yet alone bad times. The bad times are better in the sense that it let's us know that the enemy is there. If we know our enemy, then it is easier to plan. Good work.

Lorna Lamon on March 26, 2020:

Fear is definitely the enemy at the moment and your poem is full of courage in the face of adversity. The last verse is so uplifting and just what we need to keep on fighting. Stay safe and strong Brenda.
