Poem: Emotional Companion

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Poem Summary

Emotional companion is a poem about how a man should have a preprogrammed woman so he can listen to only the words he desires. He doesn't have to deal with sadness, negative thoughts or hear her nagging but he is the one who loses out. He doesn't get to experience the essence of true love.

Emotional Companion

He needs a playmate

to make him smile,

a casual acquaintance,

upbeat and positive,

no sadness or negativity allowed.

A real life blow up doll

wired with a robots mind,

to satisfy his moody needs,

keeping her on the top shelf with his prize possessions.

He can take her down

whenever he wants to hear words of praise,

believing someone cares,

listening to only the words he desires,

never getting to experience

the true essence of love.

Ann,

So glad you caught this one, even if it is a little bit different than my usual.

I think now once it goes to discover.hubpages.com it loses comment access before it even goes to LetterPile.

Sometimes my mind wanders...and this one was conjured up.

But I think men would get bored rather quickly...but it would spark their interest for just a bit.

Take care.

Bill,

It is sad that sometimes they won't go that extra mile.

It would be worth their effort.

But I seriously doubt any man would be satisfied with a woman doing and saying only the things he wants. I mean...men do get bored easily.

Have a great day.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on November 11, 2020:

Rosina,

I was just having a little fun.

It would definitely get boring having a woman who just did and said everything the way he wants it.

Take care and enjoy today.

Millicent,

I can not be a robot either but there are times I think men would love it better.

But they would get bored really quick.

So glad you got to comment.

Take care and have a nice day.

Peggy,

Thanks.

It would indeed be a sad way to live.

I was just having a little fun with my imagination.

Have a great day.

What an existence, and how sad! This is an excellent idea and well executed, Brenda.

Managed to catch this one before it goes to LetterPile!

Beautiful message! I think it happens far too often, men unable, or unwilling, to invest emotionally with his partner. Sad!

Rosina S Khan on November 11, 2020:

I cannot imagine a man would really like a preprogrammed woman like that. Because as you say, he will be really missing out on true love. Nice piece of poetry, Brenda.

Millicent Okello from Nairobi, Kenya on November 11, 2020:

I wouldn't stand being manipulated and controlled by my man. The world would be such a boring place. At times we need a little downs in Relationships to make it fun. I can't be a robbot.

#happy not late to comment

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on November 11, 2020:

That would be a pretty sad way to live, wouldn't it! We are all complex human beings, and the give and take of conversations make life interesting. I am glad I caught this in time to leave a comment.
