Poem: Do I Love You?

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"Understanding The Wife's Code" by Jeff Allen

poem-do-i-love-you

As I hear the words "I love you"
speaking from my lips,
my heart wonders if it is really true,
Do I love you?

There are moments when I wonder
are my feelings strong enough
to blend my life with yours,
Is this what I really want?

Are you my “prince charming"
the one in a young girl’s dream
my better half, my destiny,
Are you the one for me?

With you, I reach for new desires,
I am a better me,
I challenge myself to succeed,
striving to do my best.

With you, I look forward to each moment,
my smile and tears are real,
I feel magic
when you embrace me in your hugs.

With you, I feel safe,
I want to fall asleep in your arms each night,
to wake up beside you each morning,
to feel our love each day.

With you, I am comfortable
like an old worn out shoe,
knowing these words are real,
“I love you.”

You have captured a young girl's emotions at the commotion of love feelings with very valud questions indeed! Good work

I agree with you Brenda....Love really does make one a better from the scraps of oneself....I really liked the way you presented these beautiful musings that really prove that one never 'falls' in love, by chance, one 'walks' in love with the consent of his soul..Thanks for sharing !
