Poem: Deceitful Love

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"Cold Hearted" by Paula Abdul

Deceitful Love

He lures her in
with those magic eyes,
his tender-loving ways,
telling others she is his gal,
awe, the flattery and praise.

Texting her for hours
more than anyone before,
rushing home from work,
anxious like a school boy with desires
making her feel like a princess.

Playing each card in his unique style
hoping to trap her in his web,
convincing her of his ultimate love
believing his words are true,
trusting he wants only her.

A faithful and loyal woman
tending to his needs,
accepting the role of housekeeper,
cook and everything in between,
leaving him responsible
only to go to work.

Where his wandering eye moves freely,
his fingers text others
while claiming to be too busy
to send her a message,
leaving her clueless of his deceptive game.

Where he is cold hearted
caring only for himself,
seeking pleasure with fantasies
hoping to make them real,
with no worry of being faithful
since she doesn't know.

Thank you.

I supoose that is the way to look at it. Just praying for them and hope they find compassion from God.

Take care and have a nice day.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on April 05, 2021:

Brenda, I think some people are like this way, never caring about anyone's emotions. Just want to live for themselves, want to do what they want to. They don't know how to sacrifice and love others.

May God Bless those people and May He enlighten their hearts with his sacred light so they can understand. Amen!!

You have scribbled it very well.

Thanks for sharing it

Blessings and Peace

A toxic person

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on October 31, 2019:

Thank you for your words. It is so hard to understand how someone can be so toxic and have no feelings for the ones they hurt.

I guess in their case love is truly blind. They will never see it.

Thank you for reading.

I thank you. You had told me before you worked with narcissist victim's, so I trust your knowledge on this matter.

Thanks for reading.

Mark Tulin from Palm Springs, California on October 31, 2019:

A toxic person. These people will never change no matter how much love you give them. A poem that captures his dishonorable essence.

Lorna Lamon on October 31, 2019:

Your poem is an honest description of narcissistic behaviour and how toxic it can be. It is indeed a 'Deceitful Love'. Well written Brenda.
