Laugh It Off!

The poem is for humour purposes and does not intend to offend people who have suffered from clumsiness because we are wired to move, feel and make mistakes. It is best to see the poem without emotional bias even though clumsiness is a matter of concern (health-related etc).

Laughing off clumsy incidents is a way of looking on the bright side but learning from them is of utmost importance. I hope that you will stay safe and careful after reading the poem. Good luck!

Clumsy Moaning

Hit my head,

Curse at walls,

Out of bed,

Trip and fall.

Out of door,

Tumble down,

To the floor,

Hurt my crown.

I am sore,

To the core,

Slip and fall,

Something tore.

Pay the bill,

Coffee spill,

Coffee stain,

What a shame.

Poem Meaning

The poem title is "Clumsy Moaning" instead of "Clumsy Morning" because of the sound we produce when we are hurt and the poem setting is in the morning.

Hit my head,

Curse at walls,

Out of bed,

Trip and fall.

The person in the poem wakes up in the morning and bumps his head against the headboard. As a result of the pain, he curses at the walls in his bedroom because there is nobody to witness him. Maybe the walls may respond back to his face with an echo. Climbing out of bed, the person trips over the part of his blanket that touched the ground and falls down.

Out of door,

Tumble down,

To the floor,

Hurt my crown.

The person exits his house only to find himself tumbling down the stairs. Hopefully, there are only a few steps. He bumps his head again in the process of tumbling.

I am sore,

To the core,

Slip and fall,

Something tore.

His body is still aching from the bumps and falls. Unfortunately, he slips and falls down again. His pants tear apart. By now, the person is used to embarrassing himself and still walks on. You can assume he is still wearing his pants!

Pay the bill,

Coffee spill,

Coffee stain,

What a shame.

He pays for his coffee at a café but ultimately spills the coffee and stains his top. What a shame and waste of good coffee!

Have you wondered why Goofy is a clumsy character?

To be honest, I'm not sure why. It could be because people especially children find clumsiness funny. I think that making a cartoon that possesses the character of clumsiness draws out the innocence of being clumsy and shows what it means to be an imperfect human. Maybe we can laugh at ourselves if we can relate to him.

Would you consider yourself as a generally clumsy person?

Do you think clumsiness makes a person more attractive sometimes?

Haha, is that why you voted "no, you're not generally clumsy" because you're clumsy? :) Thanks, Frank! :)
