Fast Food

Do you like fast food? Have you heard about the indestructible McDonald's cheeseburger? You know, the ones that don't rot and just turn hard as a brick? Well, that's what this humorous poem is all about.
Cheeseburgers
Have you heard about the man that found
a twenty year old cheeseburger in his pocket?
They say McDonald's cheeseburgers will preserve for decades
The pictures you see are so disgusting, right?
A rock solid bun and an old black burger await your taste buds
I know that sounds tempting.
I once saw a cat carrying a cheeseburger in his mouth
When I went to pull it out of his mouth
My fingertips were instantly welcomed
With the rock solid form of an old cheeseburger,
Half bitten into.
I'd like to think that these things
Would make great Frisbees, or doorstops, or museum collectibles
I'd like to think that something like this on the news
Would change the way I feel when I pass that place,
But I don't know,
There is something about the smell of a Big Mac
About the way the special sauce tastes
When it hits your tongue
About the way something stuffed with chemicals and bi-products
Can brighten your spirits
There is something about the way
Society runs on this soul food
Something about the way a nice french fry tastes
As you are passing a gas station
It's sort of a romantic affair
So, as I sit here contemplating this twenty year old cheeseburger
I'm spoiling myself with a big, juicy, mouthful of Big Mac.
