Poem 336: A Teacher Was Born

Scientific Research Fellow in University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee

A Teacher Was Born

He was born in a joint family...

The youngest son was inspired by father's voice and acting.

Though sadness approached as failure, insult and poverty;

he kept his face ever smiling, never paid any heed,

hid it secretly inside the beating heart.

When you place an ear on a railway track,

you will hear the sound of an approaching train

though it is far away, out of sight-

sadness brought the soothing breeze of happiness

from the far away sea.

A teacher was born,

respected by students allover.

Ties with birth place were torn forever...

A new family began.

Successful persons also have grief of failure,

their way may be clear but

the pavement is occupied by unwanted hawkers.

He completed his story rather duty, took retirement,

his daughters were well established,

his wife proved to be a successful home minister.

He sang, 'Sadness I don't care you, I have conquered to pay your due'.

Look at a tree full of green leaves, look at its bottom too-

you will find brown ones, still the tree dances with the time and wind.
