Please Wind Down Your Window When You Break

Francois Groenewald is an author from South Africa. He writes poetry in his spare time.

Please Wind Down Your Window When You Break

I can not be scared all the time

I can not deem it impossible so much

I can only be darned

If you I do climb the stairs and find broken glass

What is the reason you came here?

What is the reason you beheld such a consternation?

I want her but she doesn't want me.

Please destroy the evidence.

There's nothing to see here.

There's nothing to feel within yourself

and there's nothing to bear.

Now what are we?

Are we players in a game?

Or are we immaculate?

Are we sustained by glory?

Or are we ridiculous sometimes?

I want to know these things in a bottle.

Some leave it behind themselves.

Some put it in front of them and never touch it.

Why are we so scarred that we assume nothing anymore?

Is it because we loved and did not yet bleed out?

Is it because we can?

No.

It is because we feel her and him as too shy.

And we rise only to occasions.

Never in a dull moment.

So what if we have lived before this.

So what if we will never lift again.

The cup is small, she said.

Even though I won.
