Paving Stones (Telling Me)

I can’t remember when
I didn’t want the day to end
It seems it’s all work to do
Making decisions
Waiting for visions
Of a new way to make it through

A meadow is the truth
Dishonesty has deep roots
I weeded what wasn’t green
It’s not so easy
Trying to please me
But you’ll know what I mean

I’m gonna’ make it through
Those paving stones telling me
They can hold my weight
As long as it takes to find me some free

I’m looking for changes
Like how the weather rearranges
My point of view
If it rains I stay inside
If it’s sunny I’ll walk outside
Maybe I’ll try something new

Let the rain soak my bones
And soften the stones
That make my mind hard
The sun might bake
But it’s for my sake
To see the light in my yard

I’m gonna’ make it through
Those paving stones are telling me
They can hold my weight
As long as it takes to find me some free
