Patience is Not a Virtue

Patience is not a virtue
Not when the seas have not receded
And the stars hang their heads low
Or buzzards choke with gluttony
There is no candle that can answer
It’s faith long gone to the of agony
In the night

Patience is not a virtue
Not when the streets are a dead end
For those who barricaded their hearts
Behind walls separating dreams from reality
But when a safe place is the enemy within,
Tomorrow then becomes yesterday
A day without light

Patience is not a virtue
Not when the winter refuses to begin
And the leaves cling to their parents
While spring disrobes it’s cacophony
For the naked passions of summer
Devouring our world with its pathology
In our plain sight

Patience is not a virtue
Not when the life of such a man
Was born, near death of his father
Without compromise to treachery
Crosses burning without remorse
Spoken quiet ash of blasphemy
Cloaked in white
