Out of the Dark-a Kyrielle

A Kyrielle

A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains, and each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a refrain, usually the last line of each stanza. Each line is usually eight syllables

I have split the poem in two, to help with the message I am trying to give.Hope you enjoy my attempt at one.

From The Dark

Sometimes I sit and wonder why,

and other times just sit and cry.

Where can my happiness be found?

When all the dark clouds gather round.

Can I find it in that bottle?

That can make me feel immortal.

Or do my problems just compound?

When all the dark clouds gather round.

Can I forget what’s in my past?

Or learn to make good feelings last.

Why do I feel I’m being drowned?

When all the dark clouds gather round.

What is it that makes me believe?

All of the things that I perceive.

Can I learn to be more profound?

When all the dark clouds gather round.

Into The Light

I found the help I had Craved.

To change the way that I behaved.

To give me courage that I lack.

I’m out the dark no turning back.

The power found in therapy.

Helped me see how to be free.

Negative thoughts I now attack

I’m out the dark no turning back.

To feel happy, and be content

Is such a wonderful event.

My happiness you can’t hijack

I’m out the dark no turning back.

My life is now so full of joy.

Old voices now they can’t annoy.

Nothing can move me from this track.

I’m out the dark no turning back.

Thank you John.

As the message is personal I went through a lot of different emotions writing that one.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on October 11, 2019:

This is great Charlie, such a positive and inspirational message. I have never heard of a kyrielle poem before, although I like it and am sure I have written in that style without realising it. Thank you for this information.
