Confessions Of An Oompa Loompa

Confessions From An Oompa Loompa, Poetry

I was born to be an Oompa Loompa! I had so much fun working in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! And, naturally, I thought that (as one of Mr. Wonka's famed employees), I would have had the liberty of dipping into as many gum-drops, gummy bears, jelly beans, and lollipops as I pleased! Why wouldn’t I?

Confessions Of An Oompa Loompa

My Chocolate Career

I use to be

a hard-working

Oompa Loompa,

in Willy Wonka's

Until the day

that I got fired,

due to my job

being unsatisfactory!

Sealing My Fate

Willy Wonka noticed

that his candy

was disappearing,

at an ever

alarming rate;

Then, when he saw

the chocolate running

down my mouth,

that sort of

sealed my fate.

Willy Wonka

Yes, I ate some

of Willy Wonka's

precious candy,

but I meant

no lasting harm;

Peculiar how missing

a few gumdrops,

here and there,

made stingy, Mr. Wonka lose

all of his charismatic charm!

All You Can Eat

Never would I have become

an Oompa Loompa,

if I had known that

the candy would not

have been "all you can eat";

After all, I dyed my skin

permanently green,

anticipating the ongoing

rewards, of shoveling down

my throat, treat after treat!

Santa Claus

Now that I am no longer

an Oompa Loompa,

but still fashion

the color of a bright,

fluorescent, green,

A frolicsome elf,

will be my next career move,

since Santa Claus

has lots of candy, (fresh in stock!),

from what I have peeked in,

and clearly seen!

Now that I am permanently holographic lime-green, I will see you all during the Christmas season as an elf. I will make my rounds to each of your houses, and help myself to all of your candy canes which decorate your beautiful Christmas trees. If you have any chocolate laying around, it will be mine, too. Merry Christmas!

Natalie, indeed! I am glad I quit my job as an Oompa Loompa! They didn’t even provide Dental Insurance, and with all the chocolate I was able to get my hands on, I definitely needed dental protection!

Your visit is always a sweet pleasure :-)

And he's so very wealthy, having earned his money on the backs of the poor Oompah Loompahs who have to work so very hard. Certainly with all the candy he makes, or rather they make, he could spare enough for a staff of Oompah Loompahs - what other benefits do they get? What other benefits would they possibly want? Not to mention they have to deal with some very naughty children whenever they get out of hand - I would imagine this isn't even in their job description!

My wife will love this one. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is one of her favorites. I was hoping you still had some connections to all that delicious candy. You made my mouth water. Another great way to start the day. Funny.

What a fun read, Tamara! I enjoyed the pictures, too, as I reminisced. Thank for this post. You certainly do have a way with words.

What a fun mood you create here. A little frolicking fun is in order once a day. Thanks for the Oompa Loompa session today.

Tamara Yancosky (author) from Uninhabited Regions on November 10, 2017:

Flourish, Yes! Exactly! And, besides, Mr. Wonka valued his chocolate as much as I valued it :-( (LOL)

FlourishAnyway from USA on November 10, 2017:

I wouldn’t make it as an employee in a chocolate factory. Very low production from sampling the goodies.

Tamara Yancosky (author) from Uninhabited Regions on November 10, 2017:

Thank you for your tasty comment, as well :-) Yummy, Yummy, Yummy... lol.

Hari Prasad S from Bangalore on November 10, 2017:
