Online Hate, or the Human Condition? Friday's Inspiration 17

Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

Online Hate. A Free-style Sonnet

Hate begins within, in the seed of night;

A lit candle will not manifest darkness;

A radiant flower, will only express the Light.

The searchlight of Love must light a path,

Into the minds of tangled webs. Online spite

May evoke disdain, yet its heart is the true

Citadel, that deals with searing pain.

It is safer and cleverer to shout from home,

Than to engage in a face to face at Sainsbury’s.

While the weak may never bully the strong,

The insecure will even attack their shadows!

True greatness reveals itself, in the solitude

Of those who Love. Opinions, opinions, opinions;

My thoughts run riot, as restless monkeys prance.

A Stairwell to Heaven

Merging my Breath, With a Magical Silence

Soft, soothing arias, call to my Heart,

Opening a stairwell to heavenly Love.

A pageantry of flowers garlands my soul;

I hear without ears and speak without tongue.

Into the portals of meandering hills, sanctity

Whispers to blossoms, revealing a lushness that calms

My Being. I gaze at a kaleidoscope of beauty, tugging at

The tears of my eye-lids, dripping the colours of joy.

Just yesterday, walking upon the Dales of

Derbyshire, I dreamt of fading summer --of

Rose-tinted autumn trees; of magenta leaves

In flight, cascading the sparkling rays of sunset.

Now I dine in a tapestry of perennial grandeur,

Merging my breath with a magical Silence.

Wisdom from the Master

"Everything in life is a choice."

"A mind of worry is simply a wasted life."

"Your present conditions, are the best possible ones, for your advancement."

"You have had an unpleasant experience

And you will not be happy, until you stop thinking about it." - Sri Chinmoy

Hi Linda C,

I almost missed that you're commenting on a different poem. You are right, of course. Thank you!

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on December 04, 2020:

You have shared some wise advice in this article, Manatita. The first poem is thought-proving and the second one is beautiful.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

I try, my sweet Sister. I try. Thank you so much!! Much Love

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on December 04, 2020:

manatita44 Lots have changed and you a lot to bring out the positive in us.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

Hi Dee.

I owe you a phone call. I may yet wish you a Merry Christmas! Haha. Thank you so much! You are actually grasping my subtle lines. (Chuckle) No easy feat!!

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

In a way, Linda L, yes. Yet they use an ancient art of control, that those who are wise and compassionate would ignore. The Heart ... the heart. Spirituality is the language of the wisdom-Heart, not the emotions and most certainly not the physical organ, but the inner Light of Love. So good to see you. I do think of you from time to time. Peace.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

Greetings Bro. So good to hear from you and to know you're well. I appreciate the struggle for many. Stay well and do accept my thanks and special gratitude.

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on December 04, 2020:

I like these lines in the first poem: "While the weak may never bully the strong /

The insecure will even attack their shadows!" I like the appeal to the senses in the second. Much to appreciate in your poetry.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on December 04, 2020:

How interesting that you and our friend John Hanson have approached the same topic today. Social media does not cause the vitriol, but it certainly helps to spread it. And, I fear, that some of our politicians have made name-calling, bullying, and hate speech not only commonplace but an accepted way of living. I look forward to a return to civility.

Venkatachari M from Hyderabad, India on December 04, 2020:

Beautiful crafting of the sceneries, Bro Manatita.

Hate shows the inner weaknesses and fears of a person in a violent way. He feels jealous and insecure and, being unable to adjust himself, explodes in such mean reactions.

The other two poems are inspiring to the heart and a treat to my soul.

Wish you all a Happy Holiday season ahead.

Yes, Peggy. That is my message. haha. If you understand me - and I think you do - I'm really using the message of Yoga philosophy here for the last 11 years. Change must come from within. We are mystic children of God and when one crashes, it affects all. Ioannis (Sean) supports me, in a simpler way. Peace.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

Eric, not your birthday, Bro, is it? Let me know. Thank you, thank you.

Great understanding of the message here. Much Love.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

Thanks Bro.

Appreciated! Stay well and blessed!

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

Thanks Pamela.

I'm fine, just using an occasion to serve, that's ma. Haha. Trust that you're good. Much Love.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on December 04, 2020:

It is sad that there is so much vitriol online. Just scrolling down this page it is easy to see especially when it comes to political discussions. As you said in your comment above, that hatred is already in people's hearts.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on December 04, 2020:

Thank you for your present here on my celebrated Chosen Day. I just found your flow delightful. Of course the topic and your handling of it gives pause for reflection and a choice to spread out intentions of family of humankind.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on December 04, 2020:

I have no idea how we stop this hatred. It begins with each of us, all seven billion of us. Hopefully, in my lifetime, I will see the tide change and sweep towards love.

In the meantime, I will do my part for the Love Revolution.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on December 04, 2020:

There is too much hate in society at this time, which makes your poem very relevant. I think life is miserable if you give in to hate. I want to be happy and kind. I wish all of society felt that way. It is a decision everyone must make and I appreciate you writing about this topic.

manatita44 (author) from london on December 04, 2020:

Thanks John,

For a brilliant first comment. Yes, many hide their faces or use aliases. Yet the evil is not online but already in the Heart.

I wrote this in response to a girl asking why there's so much hate on line. It is a bit like saying, that a President is responsible for a country's ails. We all have our part to play. You seem to understand, Bro. Much Gratitude.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on December 04, 2020:

Hate is such a terrible thing that can be in all of us but must be suppressed. The Internet has just made it easier for the harbourers of hate to express it, and usually anonymously. Much food for thought and pondering.
