A Game of Sedoka
I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.
A Game of Sedoka
Sedoka is a Japanese syllabic form made of six lines: 577577
Counting within fives
Grandpa’s favorite morning game
word game of five and seven
cup of hot coffee
relaxing moment in thought
sit in his favorite chair.
These routines make time
pass with pleasure and fashion
these days of hard work and toil
get lost in a five
minute thought on these numbers
and how the pieces may fit.
Meanings in the five
meanings in the seven too
find the patterns in the math
as the numbers speak
the world changes around us
let’s stick to these smaller feats.
Stay with this small five
there is danger in numbers
greater than the number ten
play this small quick game
create with five and seven
a world that we can live in.

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on April 21, 2020:
Excellent, Jamie. I loved the flow and rhythm of your work. Their is definitely "danger" in numbers, above and below a certain factor in life, particularly, the number one. Loved it.
Ann Carr from SW England on April 19, 2020:
This is great! I like how you're playing with the numbers but with the underlying connotations of life mixed in. Very well-constructed, Jamie.
