Once Upon a Time a Cat

I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.

Once Upon A Time A Cat

(An Acrostic For My Daughter Hannah)

On the roof of our home

Not sat per se a cat thought about what a

Cat like him would like to

Upon his haunches ready to

Putey Tat Pounce

On another cat who

Needlessly boxed a Dandelion below

Around the lawn his

Thoughts of food returned

Inside he knew cookie crumbs

Might lie upon an empty plate

Envious of Children's snacks

Acted upon his better judgement

Crept instead of pounced

Always kept his muzzle to the ground

To catch any morsel on the way

Smart cat, keeps his head down and looks for food. At least he doesn't eat a mouse on his owner's bed like my Tas likes to do. LOL Cute poem.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 10, 2021:

A canny cat, that's for sure! You've captured the essence of cats here, Jamie. Great acrostic poem.
