Old Garden I

My name is Jamie Lee Hamann and I started sharing poetry articles back in 2013. Every year I share a poem a day in April.

Old Garden I

Plants from all over the world

grow in my western garden

desire certain elements

effects of weather.

My distance from equator

the longer the cold winter

or daylight on summer day

cold elevations.

The continental air mass

dodges mountain barriers

hotter and drier summers

tinder for a burn.

Thermal belts on tilted floor

collecting in the lowlands

river bottoms and valley

these cold air basins.

Land zoned by indicator

who thrive in certain elements

do not survive in others

used to plant garden.

A seasonal learning curve

with every new plant this spring

garden failures and success

mighty Almanac.
